Conceived as a Town Centre shaping urban renewal project, Canberra Institute of Technology Woden Campus and Transport interchange is a 24,000m2 6 Star Greenstar design-certified education precinct containing the largest mass timber building by volume in Australia.

The Campus is located on a 11,700m2 site previously occupied by a bus interchange and is composed of the 22,500m2 CIT education facility and the 1,500m2 Youth Foyer accommodation building connected by a below grade 75 car space parking facility complete with EV charging stations and end of trip facility. The campus is designed for a maximum of 1,500 students and 326 full-time staff. Campus operations support 6,500 students annually.

The Transport Interchange located on Callum Street provides bus service access to the Campus and Town Centre precinct and is configured to accommodate the planned Canberra light rail network once completed. The Youth Foyer provides accommodation for students who require additional support to complete their education. Accommodation is comprised of 15 studio rooms, 2 accessible studio rooms and 3 parent units. Common dining and lounge areas are provided, and 24-hour support staff is available to residents.

Sustainability objectives are met through decarbonisation innovations in construction methodologies, material selection and power, SMART buildings and precinct infrastructure and a strong connection to country narrative.
