Before joining Geyer Sydney in 2024, Robert was a Principal at a leading architectural practice in Singapore, where he led the strategy, planning and design of projects from conception to completion for large, national organisations including Marina Sands Hotel, Nokia and Huawei. Robert’s appointment signifies an important stepping stone in Geyer’s continual development as a leading strategic design consultancy.
Robert has over 25 years of architecture and interior design experience, leading project teams and overseeing the management and design process from schematic to construction administration throughout Asia. This extensive experience has honed a respected set of commercial skills across workplace interiors, strategy and client services in the fields of architecture, interior design, construction, business development and international project management.
Importantly, it has shaped an holistic approach to design, one that goes beyond just planning for the moment. From Robert’s perspective, “Understanding a people’s historical, cultural, and even existential context, is critical to successful design, beyond simple aesthetics. I believe understanding ‘place’ is an integral element to proper design concepts, and for me ‘place’ means orientation, perspective and outlook, not simply location.”
“I like to build the curiosity necessary to execute bold, lasting and successful designs. Even our understanding of success must evolve, beyond just profit or portfolios. At a certain point, one has to transition from wanting to be successful, to wanting to be significant.”
Robert is an Associate Member of the American Institute of Architects, and holds an Executive MBA from HULT International Business School and a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Notre Dame.
Prior to his Principal position in Singapore, he held senior roles at Gensler, Hassell, JLL and BDG.
