David Hartigan has over fourteen years of hands-on prefab experience, as a manufacturer, a builder and a consultant in this emerging space.
As CEO of advanced modular manufacturer, Tektum; consultant to multiple emerging prefab and supply chain manufacturers; former Director of industry peak body PrefabAUS; guest lecturer at the University of Sydney’s summer intensive in Modular Architecture for Masters and PhD candidates; and founding Industry Partner at the Centre for the Advanced Manufacture of Prefabricated Housing, CRC, David has developed a deep understanding of the manufacturing; construction; architectural design; industrial design; intellectual property; town planning; project management; transport and logistics components of modular.
David started his career in the automotive industry, as an intern with auto manufacturer, TMC, working on everything from writing manuals, to fabricating parts. During his time there, David studied Motor Industry Management at the College of Technology in Dublin. Study tours exposed David to manufacturing at every scale – from the hand built TMC’s, to Renault’s ‘giga-factory’, producing 1,800 vehicles a day – a perspective he is passionate about leveraging into the construction sector.
