Sustainability Summit

Keynote – Does inequality drive worse outcomes in sustainability, or does sustainability exacerbate inequality?

An exploration of the two-way relationship between inequality and sustainability. It invites discussion on whether social and economic inequality leads to poorer environmental and sustainability outcomes—such as resource depletion, pollution, or climate vulnerability—or whether sustainability measures themselves can unintentionally widen inequality, for example, by imposing costs or limiting opportunities for some, such as permitting owners over renters, widening inequality. Housing, the hot topic of the moment, is where these two issues collide. Both Robb Stokes and Tone Wheeler are at the coalface of initiatives to resolve these inequities.
