Altering the existing with sustainable systems

  •   20 October 2021

From time to time at Architecture & Design, we are guilty of showcasing some of the most unbelievably designed homes within our Projects section. We are certainly amazed by the intelligence and understanding of architects, the expertise they possess, and the ability they hold in being able to repurpose a home through the creation of an alteration or addition. Given the eclectic stylings of our homes, particularly in our cities, there are many opportunities to repurpose and revitalise, and we are most certainly in awe of an architect’s ability to take complete advantage of that opportunity.

While writing about these particular projects directs some light on the results achieved by architects on altering and adding to these houses, nothing truly champions the process and products quite like receiving an award. The 2021 Sustainability Awards’ Single Dwelling Alteration/Addition category is most certainly the biggest opportunity to showcase the altering or extending of an existing abode, with prizes on offer for the winner,as adjudicated by the esteemed jury.
