Richmond Green Edge

Armsby Architects

The site was formerly used as a carpark. The tower form is in fact extremely complex in it’s simplicity. The façade offers a duality to the form embracing and expressing the vertical nature of a tower in an uncluttered fashion. It seeks to be a timeless façade and tries to look un-residential. The project offers not only 9 star energy efficiency to the project but offers a certified Green Star rating demonstrating the projects holistic approach to sustainability at little or no additional cost to the developers bottom line.

It also seeks to break away from the traditional “weird” look associated with green buildings and offers a more urban built form. The building explores passive solar design principles and was used as a working model to test as many passive design principles as possible as is evident in the exceptionally high thermal energy ratings.
