Iron Creek Bay Farm Stay

Misho + Associates

Iron Creek Bay Farm Stay breathes new life into an existing farm ready to take the next step in agricultural development. The property’s strong moral backbone allows the proposed development to expand the current agricultural offering. This will enable the development to diversify the product offering and cater for a growing local and regional market. The proposal is about creating a farm stay accommodation linked with a farm store/ farm restaurant to develop agricultural synergies that operate on the farm.

The proposal has been divided into five distinct zones. The house is an adaptive reuse of the existing building and becomes the reception and office. Three other existing sheds have been adaptively reused and repurposed. One has become a lounge facility that was once the shearing shed, another is for housekeeping and the third building is the water filtration and general store.

The Farm Stay Accommodation offers fifteen new pavilions: Three new pavilions have been created for the Pickers / Backpackers’ accommodation: A new building becomes a Farm Store/Farm Restaurant comprising 2200 square metres over two levels and there are 400 square metres of new Farm operations facilities, machinery store and staff amenities.

The project is endeavouring to create buildings that respond to the landscape and an experience of an agricultural farm and the underlying factors for the development ensure that the project is environmentally sustainable.
