Brae Restaurant Accommodation was conceived and designed to provide a luxury, sustainable rural experience complimenting Brae Restaurant. The new building references the archetypal utilitarian rural shed in the landscape, folded into its terrain. The project purposefully plays off the materiality and self-build nature of old rural buildings and woolsheds, and reinterprets then into contemporary and luxurious interiors, framing views of the working landscape beyond.

Through water collection, solar panels, wormfarm, passive thermal design and simple operation initiatives, the building has been designed to have zero net energy and water use and achieves 7+ stars on Nathers. The project clearly shows that luxury accommodation does not mean that sustainability has to take a back seat.
