Karen Cmiel

Karen has been working in the Aged Care sector for 30 years. She has qualifications in Leisure and Health, Community Services Management, Dementia Care and Education and Training. 

She is a qualified Recreational Therapeutic Specialist and has worked in both residential and community care, as well as the disabilities sector. During her 30 years she has also managed aged care facilities and worked as an aged care consultant. 

Her current title at Dementia Australia is Program Review Coordinator and Facilitator which includes Learning Design and the review of the education programs as well as the facilitation of education. She also coordinates the Environmental Audit and Review of plans program for Dementia Australia. Her specialties include Dementia Friendly design and meaningful activities for people living with dementia.
