Dr. Peter Irga

Dr. Peter Irga is a leading researcher in the field of biosolar green roofs and urban green infrastructure. As a Senior Lecturer of Nature-based solutions at the University of Technology Sydney, Peter’s work focuses on quantifying the environmental and economic benefits of integrating green roofs with solar energy systems. His research at Daramu House in Sydney’s CBD demonstrated green roofs could increase in solar panel efficiency, along with significant improvements in urban biodiversity and stormwater management. Recognized as Australia’s foremost expert on biosolar green roofs, Peter has been featured in over 115 media publications in five languages, including appearances on Gardening Australia and Channel 7 News. His work has earned him the prestigious Tall Poppy Science Award and has positioned him as a key advisor to international organizations such as the UN FAO and the World Economic Forum.
