Chris joined the University of Melbourne from industry, bringing extensive experience as a sustainability consultant on a wide range of projects, including high-performance commercial office buildings, energy modeling in Antarctica, shading impacts of super-tall buildings, and off-grid low-tech residential dwellings. His expertise includes high-performance commercial building facades and design for net-zero, often with reference to European trends and systems. His recent research focuses on resilient design solutions in the face of extreme weather events that are increasing in frequency and intensity globally, with numerous recent devastating events in Australia. Examples of this include adaptation design strategies for building preservation to facilitate reuse following a cyclone, flood, or fire.
