Belqis Youssofzay is the director of a young Sydney-based architecture practice Youssofzay + Hart. The practice derives its design ethos from sensitivity to the environment and a close reading of context. Concerns of lived experience, materiality and a sustainable future are the grounding principles of the studio. And at the core of each project is the belief that all design should contribute towards better cities, suburbs and public spaces.
Belqis has been in practice for 14 years and during this time she has built an extensive and diverse portfolio of public works across major arts and cultural institutions in Australia. In 2015 she was awarded the prestigious Byera Hadley Travelling Scholarship by the NSW Architects registration board to research 37 leading art institutions and museums across Japan, Europe and the US.
