Anton Bourtsev

Director of the innovative porcelain tile brand Kaolin. Anton, who is of Russian descent, grew up in Belgium, where he completed a business Engineering Degree and worked in management consulting. While Anton was polishing up on his Mandarin, he met Rita his wife. Rita is Chinese-Australian descent. They spent significant time in Europe and Asia, exposed to many different cultural and artistic influences. This gave them a lot to draw on in their property development company Chosen Group.
They always ensured that each development’s finishes were state-of-the-art, with high selection criteria for every single item including tiles. It became frustrating for them that tiles were treated as a staple construction material without seeing the bigger picture.
Together they established Kaolin here in Australia. Rita’s family-owned factory based in China has a 25-year history of porcelain tile craftsmanship, innovation, and engineering.
Rita and Anton’s conscious choice of sustainability is something that has been passed on from previous generations to them. As parents, preserving the beauty of the world around them for future generations is a deep part of Kaolin’s philosophy.
