2 September 2026
Since launching in 2006, Architecture & Design’s Sustainability Awards have become one of Australia’s longest-running and most respected built-environment awards programs, celebrating the projects, practices, products, and individuals helping to shape a more sustainable future.
For the past 20 years, the awards have charted the evolution of sustainability from a specialist discipline to a defining measure of architectural excellence, showcasing work that responds to the environmental and social challenges facing the built environment.
This year’s shortlisted entries continue that tradition, recognising achievement across residential, commercial, public, and landscape architecture, as well as interior design, adaptive reuse, modular construction, and sustainable building products.
Alongside project awards, this year’s program also honours the people and organisations leading change across the profession, from emerging practitioners to established industry leaders.
Here are the shortlisted finalists for Architecture & Design’s 2026 Sustainability Awards.

This year’s shortlist reflects the breadth of work redefining sustainable practice across the built environment—from high-performance buildings and adaptive reuse projects to innovative products, materials, and practices. Each shortlisted entry will proceed to live judging, where an expert panel will assess the finalists before selecting this year’s category winners.
In addition to the category awards, the Architecture & Design editorial team will present the Editor’s Choice Award, recognising a project that stands out for its contribution to the profession.
The overall Best of the Best winner will then be selected from the category winners, representing the highest honour in the 2026 Sustainability Awards.
