Breathe Architecture has been focusing on sustainable urbanisation and has been investigating how to deliver more affordable urban housing to Melbournians.

Tone Wheeler, Environa studio
For consistent commitment to sustainability as part of mainstream architectural values, through practice and continuing dedication to education.
Tone Wheeler is an architect, author, educator and consultant with an abiding interest in
environmental architecture and sustainable design. Tone founded the architectural practice Environa Studio over 30 years ago and has designed individual and multiple housing projects, commercial buildings and urban design schemes, all with a strong emphasis on social and environmental concerns. Environa studio has won numerous awards and competitions, including most recently the National Milo Dunphy Award for Sustainable Architecture, for the Wayside Chapel Potts Point. Tone Wheeler is the current president of the Australian Architecture Association, a former chair of the AIA National Sustainability Committee, was on the Board of ABSA (Association of Building Sustainability Assessors) for 12 years, and is a frequent speaker at architectural conferences and seminars. He has been on faculty of 3 universities, has been a judge on “the New Inventors” program on ABC Television, and is a regular ‘homie’ on ABC702 radio

SEE Sustainable Experience
SEE Sustainable Experience, is a content-driven trade show created by Australian Living in 2014, connects industry professionals directly with suppliers and manufacturers of sustainable building products and materials for residential and commercial application. In 2018, a tailored version of SEE will be integrated into Australian Living’s Educate 1000 campaign which aims to educate 1000 designers, builders and trades about the delivery of higher quality homes across Australia.

Sustainability Design Specialist (SDS) Masterclass
SDS masterclass is a comprehensive four-day training course that has been developed collaboratively by senior members of BDA Australia and Australian Institute of Architects to significantly raise the level of sustainability knowledge of residential building designers and architects. The initial rollout of the SDS Masterclasses was in New South Wales. The update of the Masterclass material was funded by NSW Office of Environment and Heritage via the Environmental Trust. Australian Living works in partnership with BDA Australia to rollout the training. The training has been received very well by industry and is scheduled to be rolled out around Australia in 2018.
